Now might seem to be a little early to be planning for the end of 2017 but this is what a number of cricket fans across England are doing. There’s no bigger event on the calendar for lovers of the game than an Ashes series, and the 2017-18 contest looks like it will be even more special than usual.
Many fans already have their plans in place for being in Australia for the event. The motorhome hire services we represent make it all the more enjoyable – and affordable – to do so.
The next Ashes series runs from 23 November 2017 to 8 January 2018. Whilst all five Tests will be intriguing and played out in front of sell out crowds there are two in particular which stand out. Both of them will be commemorated for different reasons.
Firstly, history will be made at the Second Test in Adelaide. This will be the first ever day-night Ashes Test. The decision to do this has come about in part to cater for the huge worldwide TV audience, but mostly to generate the buzz and excitement associated with One Day Internationals for Tests. Cricket purists are looking forward to seeing how a Test plays in these conditions, whilst all fans cannot wait to taste the atmosphere.
After Adelaide another landmark will be made with the Third Test in Perth. At this time, however, we can’t tell you which history making moment will be observed. Depending on how construction work progresses, the Third Test is due to be either the final time an Ashes Test will be played at the celebrated WACA ground, or it will mark the first time these two great rivals contest the series at the brand new Perth Stadium. In either case, it’s going to be a Test that fans will want to be able to say “I was there”.
Being able to attend any of the Ashes Tests in Australia is an honour for cricket fans. It’s also usually a once in a lifetime opportunity, mostly due to the costs involved. With the flights alone costing a great deal, making use of motorhome hire in Australia lets the fans travel between Tests and have a place to stay in a very affordable way.
